Lee Chong Wei down with toe injury

A blister on his right toe prevented Lee Chong Wei from training at the Djarum Badminton Centre in Jakarta today.

The 33-year-old, who will start his campaign in the World Championships in the men’s singles on Tuesday, was told to rest by his coach Hendrawan. He, however, had a light gym workout.

Chong Wei had a strenuous training session at the Istora Senayan Indoor Stadium, the venue of the World Championships, on Saturday and that caused the blister to form on his small toe.

BA of Malaysia (BAM) technical director Morten Frost, however, said Chong Wei’s injury is not serious and that he will be ready for his first round match against Kestutis Navickas of Lithuania on Tuesday.
