Muhyiddin denies conspiring with opposition to topple PM

PETALING JAYA: Umno deputy president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has emphasised that he had never conspired with the opposition to topple the leadership of prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

He said that as the number two man in the party supported by the Malays, it was irrational for him to do so.

“I have no conspiracy to topple the prime minister by conspiring with the Selangor Menteri Besar (Mohamed Azmin Ali) and Lim Guan Eng (Penang Chief Minister)... both of them have denied and I need not deny or say anything because I am not involved,” he said when opening the Petaling Jaya Utara Umno Youth divisonal delegates’ meeting, here today.

Muhyiddin said that having been an Umno member for more than 40 years, he was determined to carry out the trust and responsibility as deputy president of the party to continue the struggle to champion the rights of the Malays.

He also reminded Umno members especially in Selangor not to easily give up the fight to recapture the state in the next general election.

Referring to the various issues and challenges faced by Umno, Muhyiddin said party members especially from the Youth wing must give priority to the party’s struggles above their party post.

“Our task is to resolve the issues such as the GST (Goods and Services Tax), unemployment among the youths, rising prices of goods as well as other problems burdening the people,” he said.

To the Youth leadership who have new idealism, he advised them to use the right platform to raise the issues and opinions in line with the current development. – BERNAMA
