Indianapolis Motorcycle Grand Prix: Tricky weather tricks Malaysian riders

INDIANAPOLIS: Tricky weather conditions during the Indianapolis Motorcycle Grand Prix in the United States early today saw Zulfahmi Khairuddin failing to capitalise on starting from third on the grid in Moto3.

The DRIVE M7-SIC Racing rider came in a lowly 25th, a lap behind winner Livio Loi (RW Racing GP) of Belgium who clocked 40 minutes and 50.747 seconds.

Rainfall just before the start of the race saw most riders, including Zulfahmi, heading out on wet tyres but the track soon dried out forcing him to switch back to slicks, losing valuable time in the process.

Moto2 saw Azlan Shah Kamaruzaman (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia) notching a career best 11th in 41:28.765s.

It was, however, a disappointing outing for Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah (Petronas Raceline) as he crashed out of the race with one lap remaining.
