Popularity prompts Oppo to launch the R7

PETALING JAYA: Completing its line-up, Oppo has decided to bring in its R7 smartphone to engage the mid-range market and fulfil sales requests which according to the company had increasing demand since the launch of their earlier R7 models in July.

Oppo had only previously announced the launch of the R7 Lite and R7 Plus models early last month and had no local plans for the standard R7 model to be included into the launch line up.

According to Oppo, the decision to bring in the model (though currently limited in amount) was made after various considerations stemming from positive sales and outlook of the R7 range.

“We received a lot of demand for our R7s (Lite and Plus) since its launch in spite of economic market uncertainty. Yet amidst the positivity we found that some fans were disappointed that we had no plans to bring in the standard R7 which has the VOOC flash charge – which the Lite version lacked – and there was no alternative for its 5-inch size,” says Oppo.

When asked, Oppo responded that the three R7 models will not obstruct sales of each other in any way – the little variations between each of the models will instead cater to different types of audiences leading to an increase in reach and sales.

“Our aim is to cater to the different target audiences and demands of fans. As the Malaysian consumer device market is both robust and diverse it should not be overlooked.”

The 5-inch full HD AMOLED R7 comes with a Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor, 3GB RAM, 16GB of internal memory expendable up to 128GB via micro SD, has a 13-megapixel AF back camera with 8 megapixel up front, dual-SIM micro and nano hybrid, LTE 4G, VOOC Flash Charge for its 2,320mAh battery, and comes with Color OS 2.1, backed by Android 4.4.

It is priced at RM1,598, placing itself between the R7 Lite and R7 Plus – both priced at RM1,298 and RM1,998 respectively.
