KUALA LUMPUR: National juniors won two titles at the Hong Kong Junior Open squash championships today with both wins coming in all-Malaysian finals.
Joachim Chuah defeated Chew Yan Chun 11-5, 11-6, 13-15, 11-4 for the boys' Under-11 title while Aira Azman overcame Sehveetrraa Kumar 11-2, 6-11, 11-8, 11-6 in the girls' Under-11 final.
Malaysia could have had a third win but Aifa Azman, the 2014 British Junior Open Under-13 champion, lost 11-8, 11-9, 11-4 to Hong Kong's Liu Hiu Lam in the girls' Under-15 final.
Jessica Kheng, who succeeded Aifa as the Under-13 winner at the British Juniors, was ousted in the semi-finals of the Under-13 event.
The performances of the juniors was an improvement from last year when Andrea Lee, in the girls' Under-17 event, was Malaysia's only winner.
The country's best outing at the Hong Kong Junior Open was in 2012, winning five titles.
