Probe on SRC ongoing: MACC

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency (MACC) has denied claims that the probe on SRC International Sdn Bhd and the RM2.6 billion funds deposited into the account of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has been closed.

It also dismissed claims that MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed had issued any statements declaring that the probe had been concluded.

In response to claims by several parties on the investigation, MACC said its investigation on SRC International Sdn Bhd and the RM2.6 billion is still ongoing.

“As mentioned on Aug 3 and Aug 5, we would like to reiterate the RM2.6 billion funds were from a Middle East donor instead of 1Malaysia Development Board (1MDB).

“We hope no other party issues any statements that could mislead the public and build negative perceptions against the commission,” the MACC said in a statement, here today.
