Form Five student escapes from kidnappers

KUALA PILAH: A 17-year-old student managed to escape from three men who tried to abduct her at a bus stop on Monday morning.

The attempted abduction happened at 6.30am when the victim, Nurhidayah Mohamad Darus was waiting for a bus to her school, SMK Datuk Abdul Samad in Tanjung Ipoh.

The victim's father Mohamad Darus Isa, 54, when met at Kampung Air Hitam, Terachi today, said the men were in a van and one of them approached Nurhidayah.

“One of the suspects then tried to persuade Nurhidayah to come with them.

The man tried to force her into the vehicle, prompting Nurhidayah to put up a struggle. Another man then grabbed her and threatened her with a knife.

“Nurhidayah fought back and managed to escape after kicking one of the suspects,” he said, adding that his daughter was hit on the back with a hard object.

Mohamad Darus said he only knew about the incident at 6.30pm when he received a call from the mother of his daughter’s friend.

Nurhidayah, however still went to the school as she had to sit for an important examination.

She was taken by her father to lodge a police report at the Terachi station.

Meanwhile, district police chief Superintendent Azmi Abdul Rahim confirmed the report.

“The victim, however, could not identify the suspects as it was still dark when the incident happened.”

She was referred to the Tuanku Ampuan Najihah hospital for treatment.
