GEORGE TOWN: It was a little bright and sunny in Penang today.
The air quality in Penang has improved to a lower moderate level as at 11am today.
Checks showed that the Air Pollutant Index (API) reading Universiti Sains Malaysia on the island was recorded at 71, while readings at Seberang Jaya and Prai on the mainland were recorded at 75 and 67 respectively.
The air pollution level is categorised as — good (zero to 50), moderate (51-100), unhealthy (101 to 200), very unhealthy (201-300) and hazardous (301 and more).
The haze reading few days back was close to unhealthy levels at 97 on the island and 92 on mainland resulting in thick smoke shrouding the state.
