Ex-Swak Pas information chief elected state GHB chairman

KUCHING: Former Sarawak PAS information chief Andri Zulkarnaen Hamden has been elected the state Gerakan Harapan Baru (GHB) or the New Hope Movement chairman at its meeting last Aug 20.

The meeting also elected the state committee members, who comprised individuals from various races and religions and profession, Andri said when contacted by Bernama.

“During the meeting, it was also unanimously agreed that Sarawak GHB will field candidates to contest in the state election, not only in constituencies where majority of the voters are Malays, but also where the non-Muslims are the majority,” he added.

He said the seats which GHB was eyeing to contest for were Lambir, Samalaju, Semariang, Muara Tuang, Kedup, Triboh, Batang Sadong, Sebuyau, Beting Maro, Belawai, Dalat, Demak Laut and Dalat.

“However, this can only be determined after we discuss the matter with our allies from DAP and PKR, as well as approval from the GHB central committee,” he added.

“Andri said, who was also former Santubang PAS division leader, said Sarawak GHB had credible personalities, who are local residents, to be fielded as its candidates

He said Sarawak GHB would hold a media conference on Sept 4 to introduce its committee members and also promote its programmes.

“On Sept 6, a joint media conference with former PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu and a few GHB central committee members like Dr Mohd Hatta Ramli, Datuk Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa, Shah Alam Member of Parliament Khalid Abdul Samad and Kota Raja Member of Parliament Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud, as well as Pakatan Rakyat leaders in Sarawak will be held,” he added.--BERNAMA
