Roundup of deadline day deals

PARIS: A round-up of some of the transfers to go through on Monday, the last day of the summer window on the European continent:

• French Ligue 1 club Rennes have signed teenage French forward Jeremie Boga, 18, on a season-long loan from English champions Chelsea and have agreed a similar deal for Colombian international playmaker Juan Fernando Quintero. The 22-year-old arrives from FC Porto of Portugal and reports in western France say Rennes have an option to make the move permanent for 20 million euros (US$22.4m) next summer. Rennes are also still hoping to bring France international playmaker Yoann Gourcuff, a free agent after leaving Lyon, back to the club for a second spell.

• Cristian Zaccardo, who was in the Italy squad that triumphed at the 2006 World Cup, has left AC Milan to join newly-promoted Serie A side Carpi. The 33-year-old, capped 17 times, has agreed a two-year deal.

• Serie A side Genoa have made two new loan signings, bringing in Argentine international defender Cristian Ansaldi from Zenit St Petersburg and Swiss international midfielder Blerim Dzemaili from Galatasaray.

• Former Italian international midfielder Emmanuele Giaccherini has returned to Italy on loan to Bologna from English Premier League side Sunderland. The 30-year-old – who has been with Sunderland for two seasons – won two Serie A titles with Juventus and was a member of the Italy side that reached the Euro 2012 final where they lost to Spain. Bologna are pointless in Serie A after two games of the present campaign.

• Bosnian international midfielder Sanjin Prcic has gone on loan to Serie A side Torino from Ligue 1 outfit Rennes. The 22-year-old, capped four times, will go on a season-long loan initially with Torino having the option to buy him at the end of that period.

• Highly-regarded Moroccan international forward Hachim Mastour has gone on loan to Spanish side Mallaga for two seasons from Serie A side AC Milan. The 17-year-old was born in Italy and, although he has represented the country of his birth at youth level, he opted this year to play for the senior Moroccan side and made his debut for them in June.

• Ligue 1 side Montpellier have moved to end their alarming goal drought – they have not scored a goal in their four league matches so far this season – by a double signing of experienced Malian international Mustapha Yatabare and young Chad international Casimir Ninga. Yatabare, 29 and a member of the Mali side that reached the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals, joins on loan from Turkish outfit Trabzonspor with Ninga arriving from Gabonese outfit Mangasport Moanda.

• Lyon insist they have sold Burkina Faso defender Bakary Kone to English second-tier side Fulham for two million euros. However, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas claimed on Monday that Fulham had pulled out of the deal, stating Kone needed to pass extra medical tests which had not been done before he departed on international duty. Lyon have also allowed forward Yassine Benzia to leave for Lille on a four-year deal.

• Young Brazilian defender Matheus Doria’s hopes of one day getting some game time with Ligue 1 outfit Marseille look doomed for another season as he has been loaned out to Spanish side Granada. The 20-year-old was out in the cold last term because then coach Marcelo Bielsa hadn’t been responsible for his purchase and he was sent on loan to Brazilian side Sao Paulo. However, despite Bielsa’s resignation after just one league game this campaign, 20-year-old Doria hasn’t had much better luck with new coach Michel.

• Nigerian international striker Brown Ideye signed for Greek champions Olympiakos ending an unhappy spell at English Premier League outfit West Bromwich Albion, for whom he was their record signing. The 26-year-old – capped 25 times but who failed to make the squad for last year’s World Cup finals – scored just seven times in 31 appearances for the English side after joining them for £10 million pounds last year. Olympiakos have also taken Portuguese forward Hernani on loan from Porto. The 24-year-old has scored twice in eight matches this season for Porto – he only joined them from Vitoria Guimaraes in the summer.--AFP
