KUALA LUMPUR: A moderate earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale occurred in Celebes Sea at 9.18 am today.
The Meteorological Department in a statement today said, the quake’s epicentre was at 4.4 north and 124.8 east, 698km north east of Semporna, Sabah and 202km north west of Talaud Island, Indonesia.
The quake with a depth of 319km does not pose a tsunami threat to Malaysia, it said.--BERNAMA
