Routine to perform Subuh prayers save family escape house fire

JEMPOL: The daily routine of a man to perform Subuh prayer saved his family when their house in Felda Pasoh Tiga was razed by fire.

Victim Mohd Nor Rashid, 64, was shocked to see fire raging one of the rooms when he woke up to prepare for the prayer in the 4.30am incident.

“I quickly woke up the other nine family members.

“I am glad that I woke up earlier than usual… if not we might not have escaped from the fire,” he said when met at his wooden house today.

Mohd Nor said his neighbour helped him to move his car and a motorcycle from the house compound.

He suffered burns on his left arm and forehead while trying to put out the fire.

Sungai Lui state assemblyman Mohd Razi Mohd Ali who visited the victim said Felda would help the victim to apply for aid through its natural disaster funds.

“The family will temporary placed at a Felda's officer house and necessary help will also be given to ease their burden,” he said.

Meanwhile, Bandar Seri Jempol fire station operation officer Md Isa Yaabkob said the team was assisted by Simpang Pertang station in putting out the fire.

Md Isa said the loss and cause of the fire are still under investigation.
