KUALA TERENGGANU: State Immigration Department enforcement officers have detained 14 illegal immigrants in an integrated roadblock near Kampung Lingai here, early today.
Its enforcement chief Ahmad Salihin Salleh said 14 officers were involved in the operation which was held at KM 30 of the Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kota Baru and ended at 2am.
He said of all the 96 people checked, 14 of them were found without valid travel documents and had overstayed.
"We investigated them under Section 6(1)(c) and Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1952,"he said .
Those arrested were in the aged of between 20 and 34.
Ahmad Salihin said all of the detainees had been sent to the Ajil Detention centre.
