100 pct CSG or no license renewal: DPM

KUALA LUMPUR: Security companies will by the end of this year face having the licences not renewed if they fail to meet the 100 per cent certified security guards (CSG) standards set by the Home Ministry.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said with that, the Home Ministry aims to ensure a controlled market and enforce minimum standards to elevate the industry.

"It is a system that has already been introduced whereby security companies are required to send their personnel for CSG training, but we have some companies who have all their guards trained and others who do not comply 100 per cent," said Ahmad Zahid.

"Now we want to ensure that all of them are 100 percent certified and this is the only way. If there are companies who do not comply with the100 per cent CSG requirement, their licences simply will not be renewed."

He was speaking at the Security Services Association of Malaysia (PPKKM) forum and annual dinner here.

Responding to a request from PPKKM president Datuk Seri Mustapa Ali, Ahmad Zahid said the Home Ministry will also be looking into a uniformed floor price for services of security companies.

He said this would be to avoid undercutting among companies, which eventually could affect the standards and quality of services provided.
