Check up on understaffed clinics

IT all sounds rosy and great every time the Health Ministry proclaims how efficient and great it is to be able to provide the people with adequate healthcare, especially at its clinics, and more specifically, Klinik 1Malaysia.

Unfortunately, what has not been made known to the public is how inadequately staffed most of the clinics are.

For example, its clinic in Section 19, Shah Alam. It is grossly undermanned.

How can a clinic serving such a big area, with thousands of residents, be only manned by one doctor and two nurses at a time?

These medical officers are, thus, constantly harassed by the sheer number of patients.

It is not strange to find people having to literally camp there overnight to ensure they can get the early queue numbers.

This is surely most untenable.

The Health Department and Ministry have to see to it that all their clinics are manned adequately by doctors and nurses.

If there is a shortage, something is wrong with the planning and this shows up the incompetence of the officers who do the planning.

These officers should go to the ground and see for themselves the situation there.

People have to endure a long wait just to get to see a doctor.

Some of the women waiting to see the doctor are pregnant.
