Four more bodies recovered from Sabak Bernam capsize tragedy

TELUK INTAN: Search and rescue (SAR) workers have recovered four more bodies from the Sabak Bernam boat tragedy.

The bodies of three men and one child were fished out from the sea between 2pm and 3pm today.

This brings the total number of fatalities to 28 so far, said Hilir Perak district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain.

With the aid of local fishermen, the SAR team have also managed to rescue a total of 20 survivors.

"The remains of three adult men were found about three nautical miles from the location of the incident, while the child's body was found some 15 nautical miles from the shore," he told reporters at the SAR operations centre, here today.

The bodies have been brought back to the operations centre at Hutan Melintang.
