No lectures in UiTM Selangor campuses on Monday

SHAH ALAM: Lectures at all Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) branch campuses in Selangor tomorrow are to be postponed again after taking into account the Air Pollutant Index (API) reading today.

The API reading in Shah Alam breached the hazardous level at 9am with a reading of 308, the worst recorded in the country today.

UiTM vice-chancellor Tan Sri Prof Dr Sahol Hamid Abu Bakar said the postponement of lectures for the subsequent days would depend on the haze condition.

“The postponement will be announced a day before the scheduled lectures.

“The postponement will only involve lectures for students but the final exam for diploma students will proceed as scheduled.

“The staffs are also required to come to work as usual,” he said in a statement.

Sahol said for campuses in other states, the postponement of lectures would depend on the API reading in their respective states, subject to the decision of the campuses’ rector.

“All staff and students are urged to observe precaution to prevent haze related illnesses by reduce outdoor activities, wear face mask and drink plenty of water,” he added.
