Duo plead guilty to dangerous riding

GEORGE TOWN: Three daredevil speedsters were charged at the magistrate's court, here, this morning, with reckless riding.

Two of them — Muhamad Firdaus Abu Bakar, 24, and Muhammad Nurhafiz Tazri, 21, — pleaded guilty to the offence while Choong Wee Chun, 23, claimed trial.

Magistrate Catherine Nicholas sentenced Firdaus to one year's jail and fined him RM7,000, in default of six months jail, after he admitted to the offence along Lebuh Tunku Kudin here at 4am on Sunday.

She also ordered his license to be suspended for two years.

Catherine set bail at RM10,000 for Nurhafiz and fixed Nov 5 for sentencing pending a social welfare report.

She also set bail at RM10,000 for Choong and fixed Nov 11 for mention and to enable him to appoint a lawyer.

She also ordered both Nurhafiz and Choong's licenses to be suspended pending the disposal of their cases.
