SUNGAI BAKAP: Dozens of families were evacuated after their homes in Kampung Sethu here were inundated in waist-deep water here this evening.
The incident happened about 11pm following continuous heavy downpour.
Sungai Bakap Fire and Rescue Department received a distress call about 11.15pm.
A spokesman said when they arrived at the village, the water was already waist-deep.
"We immediately carried out evacuation with the help from police and other agencies.
"The affected villagers will spend the night at Dewan Sungai Jawi," he said.
As of press time, evacuation exercise is still ongoing.
