Fun day with MyCP

SHAH ALAM: It was a fun day for some 30 families with children who suffers from cerebral palsy, attended "MyCP Picnic In The Park", here, today.

The one-day event was held at Taman Tasik Shah Alam.

Organised by a non-profit organisation, Malaysian Advocates for Cerebral Palsy (MyCP) the event were aimed to educate parents of a child with cerebral palsy to understand better on the disability and how they can help their child.

MyCP president Zatul Hejanah Abdulila said more and more new members are joining the association and mostly are parents who have just given birth to child afflicted with cerebral palsy.

Zatul said the idea to initiate a non-profitable organisation was when my daughter was diagnosed with CP.

"Before I establish MyCP, we were in a group with other disabilities but it was not that effective. In 2012, I decided to establish a registered NGO which focuses more on cerebral palsy. It's been three years and we have conducted many activities.

She said besides carrying out activities, MyCP also plays as a support group for parents.

She explained that cerebral palsy is a disorder that affects a person's ability to move and nervous system.
