No more bravado for duo who insulted Penang council officers (with video)

GEORGE TOWN: Two men pleaded guilty at a Magistrate's Court here today for obstructing three Penang Island City Council (MBPP) enforcement officers from carrying out their duties.

The charge under Section 186 of the Penal Code was read out to Leong Wai Loon, 19 and Bok Kwang Shen, 25 in Chinese before Magistrate Sharifah Izura Syed Mashor.

The duo appeared chastened and sombre when the charge was read out to them.

There was no sign of the bravado displayed by the duo in a video, which had portrayed them behaving in an offensive manner against the council officers who had clamped their car.

In the video, the men had not only derisively thrown money towards the enforcement officer but also called them 'anjing' (dogs).

The men face jail up to two years in jail or RM10,000 in fine or both.

Sharifah set November 26 for decision, pending social report for Leong.

She set bail at RM2,500 with one surety for each of the accused.

Leong also pleaded guilty at another magistrate’s court for insulting three Penang Island City Council enforcement officers.

The court fixed November 26 for decision pending social report and set bail at RM500 with one surety.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Hafiz Hashim prosecuted, while the two accused were not represented.
