Experience Indian classics at Terengganu Deepa Night 2015

KUALA TERENGGANU: The best of Indian classical music and dance, along with traditional food will be served on the platter during the ‘Terengganu Deepa Night 2015’ on Oct 30.

To be held at the Primula Beach Hotel, the event is a prelude for the forthcoming Deepavali celebration early next month and is being organised by the Terengganu Indian Club.

Club promotions manager S.K. Balakrishnan said Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman had consented to officiate at the dinner to welcome the festival of lights for Hindus.

Among the guests will be newly-elected Terengganu MIC chairman Dr K.V. Dayal Krishnan and other prominent indian personalities and businessmen from the state.

Balakrishnan said that club president A. Mangaleshwaran had invited several popular musicians and dancers from Kuala Lumpur so as to put up a stellar performance for the night.

“We want to showcase the best of the Indian culture for guests to enjoy and appreciate.

“There will also be a rangoli (coloured rice pattern on the floor) display, apart from the popular peacock dance,” said Balakrishnan.

He added that proceeds from the dinner would be channeled to the less fortunate societies, Hindu temples and to help fund the activities of Indian clubs at local universities.
