Zahid: PAC members should swear oaths of secrecy [VIDEO]

KUALA LUMPUR: Members of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) should be required to swear an oath of secrecy to prevent any information leaks arising from its meetings.

This was proposed by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today, in a bid to ensure that all information and details from PAC meetings remain among PAC members.

"Any documents exhibited in PAC meetings or any information discussed should not be leaked out by its members," he told a press conference at Dewan Rakyat here today.

He said he mooted the idea after a meeting with new PAC chairman Datuk Hasan Arifin on the three names to represent Barisan Nasional in the bi-partisan committee.

Four seats were vacated after several PAC members were appointed as ministers and deputy ministers in a Cabinet reshuffle.

Former PAC chairman Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed is now the Deputy Home Minister, Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican is the Deputy Foreign Minister, and Datuk Wilfred Madius Tangau is the new Science, Technology and Innovation Minister.
