Agong touched over concern showed by public

KUALA LUMPUR: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah underwent a scheduled medical treatment at the National Heart Institute (IJN) last night.

Datuk Pengelola Bijaya Diraja Datuk Wira Awang Kechik Abdul Rahman, in a statement today, said Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah, 88, had departed for IJN at 10.30pm last night in the official royal vehicle to undergo a routine medical check up.

"Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong is presently resting and is expected to resume his duties as soon as possible,” he said.

He said the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah also conveyed their appreciation and thanks to Malaysians who had prayed for their well-being and happiness.

Last night, social media sites were abuzz with rumours over the Agong’s health, with many sharing pictures of an ambulance parked at what was believed to be Istana Negara.

Malaysians had shared their well-wishes for the Agong and prayed for his health.
