Police seek nine from Red Shirt rally to assist probe

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are seeking nine people to facilitate investigation into the Red Shirt rally that took place here on Sept 16.

Dang Wangi police chief Assistant Commissioner Zainol Samah said these include several couples who brought their underaged children to the protest, and several protesters who had allegedly made seditious speeches.

"From analysis into video recordings taken during the rally, police acquired images of nine individuals whom we believe can assist our probe.

"Several of them had violated the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 by taking underaged children to the protest, while several others had uttered seditious remarks.

"Police urge these individuals to come to the Dang Wangi police headquarters as soon as possible for their statement to be recorded," he said.

Investigations are being conducted under the Peaceful Assembly Act and Sedition Act.
