FIFA reject FAM's appeal to postpone World Cup qualifier against Palestine

KUALA LUMPUR: FIFA have decided that the venue for the World Cup Qualifier between Palestine and Malaysia will remain in Hebron on Nov 12.

The world body made the decision in Zurich after screening through the FA of Malaysia's (FAM) second appeal and also the report from their security officers.

"I received an email from FIFA last night which stated that the match will take place in Hebron," said FAM general-secretary Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin today.

"However, the world body will continue to monitor the situation in Palestine and if things get worse, the match will be postponed or moved to a neutral ground."

The 23-member squad and interim coach Ong Kim Swee could now decide to leave on a later date to avoid untoward incidents. Tentatively, they have been booked to fly to Amman, Jordan on Friday and upon arrival, take a bus to Hebron.
