ALOR STAR: Kedah will be hosting the 21st Indonesia-Malaysia -Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) ministerial meeting on Friday which is aimed to review the progress and achievement of their cooperation.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir said the meeting, to be chaired by minister in the prime minister’s department Datuk Seri Abdul Wahid Omar, is ecpected to see participation fromt various ministers, chief ministers, governors and delegations of IMT-GT member states and provinces including the Republic of Indonesia’s coordinating minister of economic affairs Darmin Nasution, Thailand’s transport minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith and Asian Development Bank (ADB) Southeast Asia Department director-general James Nugent, among others.
“I will chair the 12th IMG-GT Chief Ministers and Governors’ Forum (CMGF), which will take place on that same day and location, at TH Hotel and Convention Centre.
“Prior to the event is the 22nd IMT-GT Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM), which will be held on Thursday (November 12) and be chaired by the Prime Minister’s Department Economic Planning Unit deputy director-general (policy) Datuk Nik Azman Nik Abdul Majid.
“The objective of the meetings is to review on the progress and achievement of the cooperation in a number of areas including the trade and investment, infrastructure and transportation, tourism, halal products an d services, human resources development and agriculture, agro-industry and environment as well as the development prospects in the IMT-GT sub-region,” said Mukhriz.
A four-day food festival, which will include cooking demonstrations, cultural shows, stage games, live band and buskers performances, will also be held Inconjunction with the meetings from November 12 until 15 at the Golden Jubilee Park here.
