Floods: Slight increase of Perak evacuees

IPOH: There is a slight increase in the number of flood evacuees in the state with 381 from 97 families still seeking shelter in four districts as of 9am today.

State Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said only Kampung Air Hitam in Kerian recorded an increase of nine victims compared to six people yesterday.

With the increase, the number of evacuees in Kerian now stood at 126 people.

“Kampung Padang Serai, Pengkalan Baru in Manjung remained the worst hit areas since yesterday with 83 evacuees,” he said.

He said that the number of evacuees remained the same in another three districts namely Manjung (83), Hilir Perak (102) and Sungai Siput (70).

The water level at the affected areas also did not change with Kerian recording the highest level at 1.2 metres, Hilir Perak (0.5 metre), Sungai Siput (0.3 metre) and Manjung (0.2 metre).
