Court of Appeals upholds tow truck operator's conviction in Najadi murder case

PUTRAJAYA: Tow truck operator Koong Swee Kwan, better known as 'Four Eyes', is looking at death when the Court of Appeal upheld his conviction and death sentence over the murder of Ambank founder Hussain Ahmad Najadi.

A three-man bench chaired by Datuk Mohtarudin Baki today unanimously dismissed Koong's appeal, ruling that it had no merit and that the High Court murder conviction is safe.

Also sitting on the bench were Datuk Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat and Kamardin Hashim.

Koong, 46, was sentenced to death by the Kuala Lumpur High Court for the murder of Hussain, 75, more than two years ago.

He was found guilty of gunning down Hussain at the Kuan Yin Temple at Jalan Ceylon, Kuala Lumpur, between 1.30pm and 2pm on July 29, 2013.

The High Court convicted and sentenced Koong in September last year.

Koong was also sentenced to 18 years' jail for the attempted murder of Hussain's wife Cheong Mei Kuen, 51, who was accompanying Hussain when she was shot.
