KUALA LUMPUR: For the first time, the People’s Choice Awards is accepting votes from its global fan base in picking the top favourite artistes in movies, music, television and digital.
Malaysians can now vote for their top picks for the upcoming 42nd People’s Choice Awards, to be aired live on RTL CBS Entertainment HD (HyppTV channel 616) on Jan 7 at 9am.
This awards show is the only major awards voted on entirely by the public. Fans may cast their votes in 15 Movie categories, 31 TV categories, 13 Music categories and six Digital categories. Voting on http://vote.peopleschoice.com will be open until 11.59 am on Friday (Dec 4).

The awards, hosted by Jane Lynch, will take place at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles.
RTL CBS Asia Entertainment Network has secured exclusive regional pay TV broadcast rights for the 42nd People’s Choice Awards.
“We are thrilled to bring the People’s Choice Awards to the viewers in the region,” said Jennifer Batty, EVP Programming, RTL CBS Asia Entertainment Network in a statement today.
“Voted on by a global fan base for the first time, the People’s Choice Awards has given the power to the audience in recognising the ultimate fan favourites. We are excited that our audiences in Asia are now able to vote for their top picks and have their voices heard,” she said in a statement today.
Among the nominees are shows and stars appearing on RTL CBS Entertainment HD and RTL CBS Extreme HD.
James Corden and Stephen Colbert are vying for Favourite Late Night Talk Show Host, America’s Got Talent is nominated for Favourite Competition TV Show, House Of Cards for Favourite Streaming Series, Limitless and The Player for Favourite New TV Drama;” and Beauty And The Beast for Favourite Network Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Show.
Actors in the running for top picks are Matthew Perry (The Odd Couple) for Favourite Comedic TV Actor, Lucy Liu (Elementary) for Favourite Crime Drama TV Actress, LL Cool J (NCIS: Los Angeles) for Favourite Crime Drama TV Actor, and Nick Jonas (Kingdom) for Favourite Premium Cable TV Actor.
The Weeknd leads the list of nominees in Music with five nods, including Favourite Male Artiste and Favourite Album for Beauty Behind The Madness. Two-time winner Madonna, has received her seventh and eighth People’s Choice nominations, one for Favourite Music Icon, with Paul McCartney, Prince, Steven Tyler and Stevie Wonder, and the other for Favourite Female Artiste, with Demi Lovato, Lana Del Rey, Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift.
