Duo in Tapah slayings released, 21-day remand order tomorrow

TAPAH: A father and son who were believed to be the main suspects in the gruesome murder of four victims at a workshop in Jalan Pahang here were released by police this morning.

However, the duo will be remanded again for another 21 days starting tomorrow under Section 3 (1) of the Prevention of Crime Act 2012 (POCA) to assist police in the investigation.

State Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Datuk Goh Kok Liang said the suspects were released following the advice of state's Head of the Prosecution Unit (HPU) as the identity of the victims were still unknown.

"The chemists have been unable to detect the DNA from bone fragments and other case items that were sent for analysis.”

Goh said the HPU also advised police to continue its investigation.

"Police will continue the investigation at the crime scene to look for new evidence,” he said.
