AG to receive investigation paper on RM2.6b next week, says MACC

PUTRAJAYA: The investigation paper on SRC International and the RM2.6 billion fund case will be submitted to the Attorney-General next week.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) special operations director Datuk Bahri Mohd Zin, announcing this in a statement today, said it was MACC's responsibility to propose any charges in its report, on whether there is a case or otherwise.

"The MACC investigation team has been guided and given a mandate by commission chief Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed to record the independent recommendations with regards to the case," he said.

MACC's statement came about after ex-journalist Datuk A. Kadir Jasin had questioned the commission's motive in stating that its probe into the RM2.6bil donation deposited into Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's bank account, was done without any outside influence.

Bahri today reiterated that the commission had acted professionally and transparently.

Bahri also commented on PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli's demand for MACC to reveal the identity of the donor of the RM2.6 billion.

He said Rafizi, as a lawmaker, should know the limitations of the law, in this case, the MACC Act 2009.

"The MACC Act 2009 does not permit the commission to disclose detailed information to the public.

"MACC does not have any problem in revealing the details of any investigation, provided it does not contradict with the law.

He said Rafizi should understand these constraints and as a lawmaker, recommend appropriate action to disclose the findings of the investigation to the public in detail.
