SUBANG JAYA: A loud ‘meow’ from Pok Yea the cat foiled a robbery attempt and saved the day today.

But the 10-kilogram British Short Hair was just returning a favour to its owner, Azmira A. Rahim, 39, who had taken the former stray under his care.

"My cat literally saved my family and me. Pok Yea was just a stray cat and I found him under an abandoned car," said Azmira when met at his apartment in Jalan Jubli Emas here.

Recalling the incident, Azmira said he was about to go to sleep when Pok Yea started frantically meowing in the direction of his home's balcony at about 2.50am.

Azmira said he and a friend immediately chased after the intruder and found him hiding in a waste disposal room on the sixth floor of the building.
