SIBU: A supper for five friends turns deadly when one of them was shot dead at a restaurant in Jalan Lanang, here, last night.
Teng Meng Min, 30, and his four friends including a woman from China were about to leave the restaurant when he was gunned down in the 11pm.
Police said the unidentified gunman drives the Toyota Hilux by the restaurant before releasing the gun shots.
Teng succumbed to six gunshot wounds while the Chinese nationals identified as Xiao Fen was seriously injured.
Sibu district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Kamal Kordi said the woman was also shot while Teng's other friends were not injured.
"We have obtained a 17-second video recording from a close-circuit television camera from the premise to facilitate the investigation.
"The police have also identified the owner of the vehicle used by the assailant," said Kamal alluding that an arrest would be made soon.
Police, said Kamal, was still identifying to motive of the murder but did not rule out business rivalry.
