More allocation for Class F contractors this year

KUALA LUMPUR: The Works Ministry has increased the allocation for Class F contractors to RM40 million this year compared to RM28 million last year.

This however was only for projects directly under the ministry which are conducted by the Works Department, excluding other projects by other ministries.

The projects were given out to contractors via votes from ballot boxes.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said this is to give more opportunities for smaller contractors in the Class F category.

"Meanwhile concession companies are required to give certain percentages of the allocation to Class F contractors.

"This is to ensure that the welfare of smaller contractors are taken care of," he said.

Fadillah spoke to reporters after giving out Letters of Acceptance for the 11th Malaysia Plan today.
