PETALING JAYA: Popular alternative rock band Estranged who recently collaborated with actress-singer Nur Fazura Sharifuddin is hoping to work with the latter again in the near future.
Its frontman Rich Gimbang said it was an enjoyable experience recording the duet Hancur Aku with the 32-year-old Pahang-born artiste.
"Fazura has so much potential and great to work with. Through this collaboration, we hope to give the tune a fresh outlook. It's an entirely new concept for us and I hope there will be opportunity in the future for us to work again," he said at the band's album launch in Mutiara Damansara today.
Rich said many have asked him the reason why Estranged had decided on Fazura in the end.
"For us, we had always wanted to work with different people in the industry. But when we heard Fazura's recent single Sayangi Dirimu, we knew we had to have her," he said.
Rich wrote Hancur Aku which was based on his personal experience where he was in a relationship that didn't work out at the end. "The song basically chronicled how I felt during that time," said the father-of-three.
Estranged, also comprising guitarists Nor Hanafi and Din Hormatov, is back with a mini album titled Sepenuhnya Volume 1. Featuring five tracks, among the tunes are Hancur Aku and Bangkit.
Their last album was Anugerah Hidup (2013).
In the pipeline is a nationwide tour which will include performing at various universities and campuses. "So far, we are looking at nine different venues. Since there are certain rules and guidelines that the band has to adhere to, we need time to look into that. We'll announce the confirmed dates and venuesl soon," he said.
Estranged is also set to release a follow-up album, Sepenuhnya Volume 2 soon. "It's all part of a marketing strategy," Rich said, when asked about the decision behind it. "All in all, Sepenuhnya (Vol 1 and 2) will carry 12 tracks," he revealed.
