Twelve men charged with causing commotion while armed with parangs

PETALING JAYA: Twelve men were charged at the magistrate's Court today with causing a commotion in public while armed with parangs on Monday.

C. Sureshkumar, 24, R.Pravin, 20, M. Ravind Kumar, 20, T.Dhinakaran, 18, G.Pavithran, 19, R.Kalaikumar, 20, Mohamad Khairul Rijal Che Daud, 24, Muhammad Razlan Firdaus Abdullah, 20, siblings Mohd Shahid Mohd Murshid, 20, and Mohd Shahir, 18, and two juveniles aged 17 pleaded not guilty to a rioting charge.

They allegedly committed the offence at a petrol station in Jalan Kenanga, Damansara here at 5.02am on Jan 17.

Magistrate Mohd Azali Ibrahim set RM1,800 bail for each accused and fixed Feb 26 for mention.

It was reported that three men had been assaulted by 10 parang-toting robbers at a petrol station in Kampung Sungai Kayu Ara, Petaling Jaya on Monday.

The attack sparked another incident when friends of the injured victims tracked down the robbers and beat them up in return.

The three victims sustained serious injuries as a result of the attack.
