GEORGETOWN: INDEPENDENT shuttlers Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong failed to make it count in their first tournament of the year when they crashed out of the Malaysia Masters GP Gold today.
Kien Keat-Boon Heong, lost 18-21, 21-13, 21-18 to Indonesia’s Gideon Markus Fernaldi-Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo in the men’s doubles final at the SPICE Arena here in Penang.
In the earlier mixed doubles final, Tan Kian Meng-Lai Pei Jing crumbled under pressure, losing 21-14, 21-19 to China’s Zheng Siwei-Li Yunhui.
Both Kien Keat-Boon Heong and Kian Meng-Pei Jing settled for US$4,560 (RM19,478).
