Ahmad Bashah pledges to continue Mukhriz's development efforts

ALOR STAR: Newly minted Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah said he will continue all the development efforts and projects implemented by his predecessor, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, which are aimed at benefiting Kedah and the people.

"I will definitely continue to work on all development projects that have been implemented by Mukhriz.

"It does not matter who is the predecessor. Even if I am taking over from the opposition party for instance, if the development project benefits the people, I will continue the effort," he said.

Bashah said this after he was sworn in at Istana Anak Bukit here this morning.

Bashah also assured the people that he will do his best to continue efforts to improve Kedah's football performance.

"I will do my best for the state football team to improve its performance.

"Football has a large following in Kedah and hopefully we can unite the people, that consist of various political ideologies, through football," he added.

Bashah took the oath of office before Kedah Regency Council chairman Tan Sri Tunku Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah, in a swearing-in ceremony at Istana Anak Bukit.

Also present were State Secretary Datuk Bakar Din, Speaker Datuk Md Rozai Safian, as well as state executive councillors Datuk Dr Ku Abd Rahman Ku Ismail, Datuk Mohd Rawi Abdul Hamid, Datuk Suraya Yaakob, Datuk Tajul Urus Mat Zain, Datuk Badrol Hisham Hashim, Datuk Mohd Tajuddin Abdullah, Datuk Norsabrina Mohd Noor, Datuk Aminuddin Omar and Datuk Dr Leong Yong Kong.
