KOTA KINABALU: A total of 29,073 hardcore poor families in Sabah will receive the 20 kg rice assistance under the MyBeras programme starting March 1.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Yahya Hussin who is also State Agriculture and Food Industry Minister said the aid, which is to help ease the cost of living, will be implemented until December 31.
"The recipients are from the list under E-Kasih system. The implementing agency for the MyBeras programme is Bernas with the assistance of district offices, while my ministry will help to coordinate and monitor the programme," he said.
The programme was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak when presenting the revised 2016 Budget on January 28.
