4,000 houses will be built for members of the armed forces

KUCHING: A total of RM 1.2 billion will be allocated for the construction of 4,000 Armed Forces Housing (RKAT) units at 11 locations nationwide, said Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.

For this year, said Hishammuddin, RM160 million from the total allocation would be used to build the houses.

He said among the 4,000 units included 917 units to be built at five locations in Sarawak.

"The five locations will be Sri Miri Camp (139 units) , Pakit Camp (114 units), Sri Aman (254 units), Batu 10 Sibu Camp (156 units) and Semenggo Camp (254 units).

"The construction of the housing units in the state will cost RM 320 million," he said in his speech during a meeting with members of armed forces at Penrissen Camp here, today.
