2017 SEA Games: OCM drops judo, canoeing, bodybuilding, triathlon and fencing

KUALA LUMPUR: The Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) have shortlisted 34 sports, comprising 342 events, for the 2017 Sea Games in Kuala Lumpur.

National sports associations have until the end of the month to appeal while countries in Southeast Asia can do so until June.

The Sea Games Federation will finalise the final number of sports in their council meeting on June 14.

The five sports dropped are judo, canoeing, bodybuilding, triathlon and fencing.

Most sports will be held in the Klang Valley with some in Putrajaya and Nilai.

The sports short-listed are athletics, aquatics, archery, badminton, basketball, boxing, cricket, cycling, equestrian, football, golf, gymnastics, hockey, ice hockey, ice skating, karate, lawn bowls, netball, silat, petanque, rugby sevens, sailing, sepak takraw (includes chinlone), shooting, cue sports, squash, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, bowling, volleyball, water ski, weightlifting and wushu.
