Fishermen whose boat capsized off Tok Bali found alive

BACHOK: Five fishermen, whose boat had sunk two nautical miles off Pantai Kampung Nipah are reported alive and safe.

District police chief Deputy Superintendent Abdul Hamid Che Ahmad said a search-and-rescue operation had been launched off the coast of Tok Bali.

"The first victim was found about 6am after he was found looking lost by a villager while the second survivor was found at 9.50am today at Pantai Baru, about a kilometre away," he said.

State Fire and Rescue department assistant director Hussin Ab Rahman confirmed that the three Cambodians reported lost at sea were found at different locations along the Tok Bali coastal area.

Hamid said they were found dehydrated and suffered sun burnt and were sent to Klinik Kesihatan Bachok to receive treatment.

"The consulate has been informed about the incident and that both fishermen are in stable condition," said Hamid when met.

He added that the SAR operation started at 7am and was ongoing.

It is learnt that the fishing boat had sunk about 10am on Saturday.
