Najib arrives in Jeddah for four-day visit

JEDDAH: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak arrived here for a four-day official visit last night.

The prime minister, accompanied by his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, was greeted upon arrival by Malaysian ambassador to Saudi Arabia Zainol Rahim Zainuddin and other embassy officials.

Also accompanying Najib wer Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein and Ministers in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Jamal Khir Baharom and Datuk Seri Abdul Wahid Omar.

Today, Najib is scheduled to perform the umrah and later in the evening, will deliver a keynote address at the Jeddah Economic Forum (JEF).

JEF has become a leading hub for leaders, economists and businessmen from around the world to discuss and exchange views on various global key issues.

Najib is also expected to have an audience with King Salman Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Crown Prince Mohammad Naif Al-Saud and Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed Salman Al-Saud.

“These meetings would provide the opportunity for both leaders to discuss bilateral and regional issues of common interests,” said the Foreign Ministry in a statement.

The prime minister is also scheduled to visit the Malaysian Armed Forces base at Hafar Al Batin.
