More flood evacuees return home in Sarawak

KUCHING: Twenty-one flood evacuees returned to their homes today from a relief centre in Serian, leaving only 10 people at the Kampung Koran community hall in the district.

Sarawak Department of Civil Defence public relations officer Siti Huzaimah Ibrahim said the houses of the 10 people from two families in Kampung Koran had been damaged by a landslide.

The 21 people had been sheltering at the Slabi Entungkuh community hall in the Serian district. The centre, about 70km from here, closed at 10.15am.

Siti Huzaimah said 68 relief centres were opened in stages after floods struck the Kuching, Samarahan and Serian districts on Feb 20. -- Bernama
