Increase in number of Johor STPM scorers with a perfect 4.0 CGPA

JOHOR BARU: There was an increase in the number of Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) students in Johor who scored a cumulative grade point average of 4.00 this year.

Johor Education director Aminuddin Adam told a press conference here today that 50 STPM candidates in Johor last year scored a CGPA of 4.00 compared to 43 in 2014.

A total of 4,919 candidates sat for the STPM examinations state-wide last year, out of the 5,260 who had initially registered for the examination.

Of these, 327 or 6.65 per cent sat for five subjects while 4,592 (93.35 per cent) sat for four subjects.

Of the 327, 4.06 per cent achieved full passes and 71.27 per cent passed in four subjects.

Johor also has four high achievers who will receive national awards.

They are Tee Wee Sin of SMK Munsyi Sulaiman, Batu Pahat, who scored 5As; Syamimi Sharifudin of SMK Tunku Putra, Batu Pahat (4As); Ooi Tzu Chia of SMK Dato' Penggawa Timur, Pasir Gudang (4As) and Chai Chin Chiet of SMK Seri Bandar Pontian, Pontian (4As).

"A total of 24 schools also produced high achievers and students from schools in the outskirts achieved an overall CGPA of 2.79 compared to students in urban areas whose overall CGPA was 2.74
