Leading Sunnah Wal Jamaah scholar to hold programme in Ipoh

IPOH: A leading Sunnah Wal Jamaah scholar from Yemen, Al Habib Umar Hafiz will pay a visit and hold a programme here for two days on Wednesday and Thursday next week.

Umar, 56, will lead a programme here with a ceremony attended by the government officials at the conference hall of the Menteri Besar’s official residence on Wednesay evening.

He will be accompanied by Habib Ali Zaenal Abidin who will be his translator from Malay to Arabic before attending the Ipoh Salawat Perdana ceremony to be held at Dataran Ipoh City Council (MBI) later that evening.

The Yayasan Kemajuan Islam Darul Ridzuan (KADIR) chairman Datuk Azhar Ahmad said they are expecting about 15,000 people to attend the ceremony.

He said the program was themed 'strengthening ties of fraternity' and it is expected to be attended by about 50 scholars from abroad and from Malaysia.

Azhar said the program was jointly organized by the Chief Minister's office, KADIR and Muwasolah Council Baina Wal Muslim Scholars Organisations.
