BESUT: An eighteen-year-old youth drowned while bathing with friends at Lata Tembakah waterfalls, Pasir Akar, here, today.
District police chief Superintendent Khalid Che Lah said the victim Chork Chai Eh-Di from Kampung Sedar Tumpat, was a student of SMK Tumpat Kelantan.
Khalid said Chork and four friends arrived at the scene about 4.15pm and went into the pond for a swim 15 minutes later.
"Chork is believed to have slipped while walking near the waterfalls and his body was found by a rescuer 30 minutes later," he said.
The body was sent to the Besut Hospital for post-mortem.
