Pahang, Felda United crash out of FA Cup

KUALA LUMPUR: Super League clubs Felda United and Pahang were the biggest casualties on Saturday as the FA Cup third round came to an exciting conclusion.

Both teams fell victim to lower league opposition as Premier League club Sime Darby snatched a 1-0 win over Pahang at the Darulmakmur Stadium in Kuantan while PKNS stunned Felda 3-2 after overturning 1-0 half-time deficit in Malacca.

With Sabah and Kuala Lumpur also advancing, there will be four Premier League teams in Sunday's draw for the quarter-finals.

The only Super League team to triumph on Saturday was Perak, who overcame second-tier Kuantan 1-0 in Ipoh thanks to Vokhid Shodiev's first goal of the season when he scored in the third minute.

Sime Darby midfielder Syed Sobri Syed Mohamad scored in the fifth minute to knock Pahang out of the tournament.

After eliminating Terengganu in the previous round, PKNS proved to be tough customers at the Hang Jebat Stadium despite going behind early to a Francis Doe strike in the 17th minute.

But Gabriel Guerra (55th), Matias Jadue (66th) and Nazrin Syamsol Bahri (70th) turned the game around before Hadin Azman's 77th-minute goal set up a grandstand finale.

In Kangar, Fahrul Razi Kamaruddin put KL ahead in the 20th minute before Hafiz Johar doubled the city's side advantage five minutes later.

Sabah advanced to the last-eight for the first time since 2008 with a 2-1 win over Armed Forces at Likas in a clash between the Premier League's bottom two teams.

Maxsius Musa scored as soon as the second half began to give Sabah the win following Faiz Ibrahim's equaliser 10 minutes after Prince Nnake's 12th-minute opener for the home team.

Super League sides Johor Darul Ta'zim, Police and Kedah secured their quarter-final berths with wins on Friday.
