PM cleared of financial wrongdoing in relation to RM2.6 billion and SRC's RM42 million

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was cleared of any financial wrongdoing by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

Minister in Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman, in a parliamentary written reply, said based on the statements by witnesses and submitted supporting documents, MACC had confirmed that the contribution was personally given to Najib from the Saudi royal family.

This, she said, was in relation to the RM2.6 billion case investigation.

"With regards to SRC International case, MACC has stated that the result of its investigations do not show that Najib was involved in any corrupt practice," she said in response to a question from Datuk Mahfuz Omar (Pas-Pokok Sena).

Azalina said based on the overall facts and explanations given, the Attorney-General was satisfied that no criminal offence had been committed with regards to these cases.

She was responding to Mahfuz, who had asked the PM to state the outcome and recommendations made by MACC on the AG's probe into funds deposited into Najib's personal account.
